Dr Ambedkar Day

A celebration of Dr Ambedkar's birth anniversary
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was a pioneering advocate for social justice, championing the rights of Dalits and marginalised communities in India. He embraced Buddhism as a means to promote equality and liberation from the oppressive caste system. Ambedkar's conversion to Buddhism in 1956, alongside millions of his followers, was a significant moment in Indian history. He saw Buddhism as a philosophy rooted in principles of equality, non-violence, and social justice, aligning with his vision for a society free from discrimination and exploitation.
The afternoon will include meditation, a talk and presentation by Saddharaja, a short documentary about Dr Ambedkar's life, discussions, a puja and will be accompanied by Indian music and snacks. Everyone is welcome!
