What’s the point of being in just one Buddhist movement; why can’t I train within several?

There is nothing to stop you drawing inspiration from a number of traditions or teachers. However, Buddhist movements vary in the aspects of Buddhism that they emphasise and their way of presenting these teachings and it can be confusing to have a variety of interpretations at an early stage. Therefore, training in one tradition can give you a firm basis for exploring others.
